6 WEEKS YOGA FOR BEGINNER'S COURSE A 6 week deep dive into the practice of yoga for complete beginners, can also be used to refresh your practice & build your confidence on the mat! Saturdays 12pm - 1pm January 11th - Feb 15th Join the owners of Inspirit, Liv & Lauren on a 6 weeks beginner's yoga course! A course like this is the perfect way to dive into the fundamentals of what makes a yoga practice! This course aims to help you gain enough knowledge & confidence to introduce a yoga asana, (movement) alignment, pranayama (breathing practices) & meditation into your life, with the added benefit of being surrounded by a group of like-minded people that are doing the same! Over these 6 weeks we will be exploring: Week 1 - GROUNDING (ROOT CHAKRA) What does it mean to ground? To arrive in the present moment. This week we will work on finding our seat, introduction to breathing techniques (pranayama) and breaking down fundamental movements and postures of the practice. We will also explore how to use props to support yourself. Week 2 - FLOWING (SACRAL CHAKRA) Now we have introduced the breath, this week we'll work on linking breaths to movements, transitions and postures, building on the foundations we learned last week! We will approach transitions from one movement to the other, and making them as smooth as we can using props and modifications. We'll start to bring in Sun Salutations, and use them to create a flowing practice. Week 3 - PROGRESSIONS/ BUILDING CONFIDENCE (SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA) Continuing our progress from previous weeks, this week we will introduce breathwork to support flowing movements. We will explore more options and variations in our standing postures, like binding, twists and balancing! Working towards deeper seated postures to aid flexibility. Week 4 - YIN YOGA Working with the properties of TCM (traditional chinese medicine) you will be introduced to a Yin Yoga practice. This week will be involve less movement, and at a much slower place, giving you an opportunity to practice finding presence and inner body listening. We will use plenty of props to encourage full body support whilst we spend more time in each posture. Wear something cosy and warm and embrace rest! Week 5 - MOVING WITH INTENTION (HEART CHAKRA) This week we will introduce Sankalpa (intention), understanding what an intention is and why we set them at the beginning or class. We will then use our own personal intentions as inspiration for the practice, moving with intention in mind. We will also work with Mudras (hand gestures/hand yoga) and how we can apply them to the practice. We will also spend more time in Savasana (our rest) with a meditation and more breathing practices. Week 6 – INTUITIVE MOVEMENT (THIRD EYE CHAKRA) Our final week on the course! Here we will work on exploring intuitive movement, picking up on how we feel, how we like to move and feel. Don't worry, we'll still guide you through the practice! But there's a little more freedom in the movement. We will also bring in more breathwork for you to use in your day to day life. Please ensure you are able to attend the FULL 6 weeks of the course, as we are unable to offer ‘make up’ classes due to the popularity of the class. Any cancellations once the course begins are not able to be refunded or moved to another day/time.
