About

Winter is a “yin” time of year in the tradition of Traditional Chinese Medicine. If we are in sync with Nature, it is a time for us to slow down our energy, go inward, rest, relax more deeply into ourselves. Just as the energy of trees, some animals and plants go deep into the ground to rest and replenish for Spring. Qigong, after all, is about us honing our abilities to interact and flow with our natural life force energy. In fact, there are times that our illnesses may stem from our inability or unwillingness to honor these natural ways of Life, and instead, stay on the busy treadmill of life and “go, go, go” mentality. There is great value in many respects for us to slow down our brainwaves and bodies in order to enhance our regenerative capabilities that support us to live well in Life. So, in this class we will experience immune-boosting movements, meditations for inner tranquility, and ways to fortify our kidney energy to support our overall health for this season. In Qigong, the kidneys are the doors of Life that sustain us living well in our physical body…the storehouse of essential energy. We will focus on our grounding (lower) portion of our body, which includes improving the movement of the lower back, hips and knee strength while enhancing overall well-being. All of this will give you practical “tools” to stay balanced, energized and healthy during this Winter season.
