About
On January 25, 2025, join Ashtanga teacher & bodyworker Megan Grandinetti and occupational therapist and pelvic floor specialist Leanne Markey for a special workshop to explore the mystical pelvic floor. The root of our spine, the root of our movement, and something that tends toward dysfunction in many of us. Leanne will use her practical, clinical knowledge to help participants understand, both from an anatomical and physiological perspective, what the pelvic floor is, how to locate it, and how to use it well in every day life. She will review pelvic floor health including common issues that can arise with the pelvic floor. She will give us practical exercises and tools to work with building a more relaxed, stable pelvic floor to set us up for good movement in life. Megan will use her yoga and somatic knowledge and experience to help participants tie all of this together to their yoga practice. To integrate breath, movement, and pelvic floor engagement in a way that is meaningful, supportive, and not at all restrictive. You will walk away from this workshop with more knowledge, yes, but a deeper experiential awareness of how your body works, and how it can work better as you walk through life and as you move through your yoga practice. Whether you're a seasoned Ashtanga student seeking to deepen your practice or a curious newcomer, this session offers valuable insights into optimizing alignment, stability, and energetic flow through awareness of the pelvic floor. Real exercises that you can take home with you. Practical, experiential understanding of your body on a level you didn’t have before. All bodies, all genders, and all levels are welcome.
