“Filling the Heart with Light: Backbending with Sarah Durney Hatcher” Sunday, 29 September 1:30-4:30 pm €45 Join Sarah for an all-levels afternoon yoga workshop on how to backbend with ease and skill. This class is for anyone who wishes to strengthen their spine, protect their back and bring longevity and strength into the legs and arms so that the spine can be creative and free to move. The workshop begins with an investigation of pranayama (breathing) which will prepare the pelvis, diaphragm and chest for the creative movement of flexing the spine. The primary series of Ashtanga yoga backbends and some therapeutic backbends of the intermediate series will be explained as well as the classics: Upward-facing dog, Upward Bow pose (Urdhva Dhanurasana) as well Camel pose, Ustrasana. We will also learn how to use props to support and strengthen the body when Backbending. At the end of the workshop, students will feel confident and prepared to backbend more regularly.
