Releasing stored emotions: The Hips This workshop is suitable for anyone curious about the link between emotional and physical health, those experiencing chronic feelings of hip tightness, and all those wishing to explore ways to improve their wellbeing. Did you know that there is a profound link between the hips and stored emotion? The hips are an area where we hold a lot of vulnerabilities, old emotions and memories, sadness, anger, worry and fear. When we experience stress and switch into the flight/fight/freeze/fawn part of our nervous system, we create tension in our bodies - our jaw, shoulders and hips being some of the main areas. Over time, as multiple stressors may layer upon each other, a build up of emotion can lay dormant in the body; a physical snapshot and memory of our experiences. Working with the hips can allow these repressed emotions to resurface and release; it’s not unusual to experience feelings of flowing emotion and vulnerability as you work with the body. Join Kat for this 2 hour workshop, where we explore a variety of gentle and low impact yoga poses and other expressions of the body focusing on the hips, as well as working with the Psoas muscle, a deep hip flexor of the body that is intrinsically linked with our survival response.
